TMR feed from a supermarket
the feedration factory in Korea
Packing in big bags
Modern dairy farmers will buy the feed rations for their animals at the local supermarket, which will supply the top quality TMR rations at a lower cost and will relieve the workload on the farmer.
The more conventional way is that the farmer visits the feed center and collects his feed rations, drives to the farm and distributes the feed in the feed alleys. Some centers deliver the feed rations at the farm and even distributes along the feed alleys.
The feed centers have been looking for solutions for small farmers, to reduce transportation costs. In Korea the feed is delivered at the farm in closed big bags, which guarantees the quality of the feed for a few days - one delivery for one week.
A feed center in Israel / Spain has gone one step further, it packages the feed rations in airtight plastic after compressing it, the almost vacuum packed feed has been tested and its quality can be guaranteed for many month. Transportation cost were also reduced as trucks can haul twice the amount of feed in each trip.
